This poem is inspired by my blog post ‘From Reactive to Reflective: Unlocking Mind Over Mood Strategies‘. You can find the full post here:

A spark, a word, a fleeting tone—
and suddenly, you’re not alone
inside your mind; the thoughts all spin,
the storm begins, it pulls you in.
A mood can rise like sudden flame,
and whisper, “You’re to blame, to blame.”
But pause—step back, take just one breath,
you are the driver, not the mess.
Thoughts steer the wheel each day,
and can paint the clouds clear or gray.
What you believe, your heart will feel—
perception shapes what’s false or real.
A thought says, “I can’t,” and fear replies;
but truth asks gently, “Have you tried?”
You’re not your mood, nor passing storm,
but mind in motion—free to form.
Notice the thought that pulls you down,
don’t wear its voice, don’t take its crown.
Ask, “Is it fact, or fear in disguise?”
Reframe the story—see through new eyes.
When anger shouts, let stillness speak;
when doubt feels strong, stay soft, not weak.
Each pause, each breath, each mindful space—
rewires the mind with patient grace.
Your thoughts, your moods, your daily tone—
you shape them more than you’ll ever know.
No instant cure, no magic art—
just practice, courage, and an open heart.
And one day soon, you’ll see it clear:
the storm still comes, yet brings no fear.
You’ll breathe, you’ll trust, you’ll let it be—
for you’ve become your own calm sea.
