This poem is inspired by my blog post ‘Insomnia: Navigating the Sleepless Nights’. You can find the full post here:

Can’t sleep again? You’re not alone—
A restless night, a weary groan.
Millions lie in silent fight,
Chasing dreams that dodge the night.
Insomnia, the quiet thief,
Steals away our calm relief.
It haunts the hours, slows the day,
Turns thoughts to fog, and joy to grey.
We twist, we turn, we watch the clock,
As heavy thoughts begin to knock.
The body tired, the mind still loud,
Each breath a whisper through the cloud.
Stress and sorrow, work and pain,
A tangled mind we can’t contain.
Screens that glow, alarms that chime,
Disrupt the soul’s deep-needed time.
Too much caffeine, a heavy meal,
A world too fast to let us heal.
We lie awake with hearts on fire,
Desperate for what we require.
Sleep—sweet sleep, the healer true,
Renews the mind, the body too.
But when it hides, we lose our grace,
Our memory, mood, and calm embrace.
We age, we ache, we lose our spark,
Our nights too long, our mornings dark.
A racing mind, a heart that pounds—
No peace, no rest, just looping sounds.
But hope is not beyond our reach.
There’s power in the truths we teach:
Set routines, breathe deep, unwind,
Let gentle silence calm the mind.
Read a book, take a walk,
Limit light and lessen talk.
No heavy meals, no phones in bed—
Invite the quiet to your head.
A cool, dark room—a sacred place,
Where stillness holds you in its grace.
And if sleep doesn’t come your way,
Don’t stay and struggle—gently stray.
Return with ease, with kindness, too,
Your body’s trying hard for you.
And if the nights remain a fight,
Seek help—your rest is worth the right.
Sleep’s not a gift for just the few,
It’s something every soul is due.
So guard it well, let healing start—
For peaceful sleep restores the heart.
