This poem is inspired by my blog post ‘The Psychology of First Impressions: What Really Happens in the First 7 Seconds‘. You can find the full post here:

In a heartbeat, stories start—
a glance, a smile, a steady heart.
Before our words have time to land,
we’re read by eyes, by tone, by hand.
A tilt of posture, open face,
a calm hello, a measured pace—
these little things, though small and light, can turn a moment into light.
We measure quickly, sharp and small, in gestures, signs, the rise and fall. Not polished words or practiced part,
but how we touch another’s heart.
To feel acknowledged, valued, known—
these seeds take root, and trust is grown.
So stand with calm, let kindness show,
be present, steady, soft, and slow.
Dress to honor time and place,
let honesty be what we trace;
speak with clarity and grace,
and wear a genuine human face.
And if you stumble—own the start,
show up again with a steady heart.
Consistency can mend what’s torn;
trust is stitched where care is worn.
Remember this in every room:
first moments blossom into bloom,
when presence, warmth, and truth align—
a gentle spark that stands through time.
